Well, in my introduction to tourism class, i can actually remember one very important point. In the beginings of the tourism industry, Australia was not heavily travelled simply because it was too far away from everything. We're on our own stinking island for heavens sakes. But as people started to experience what australia had to offer, it brought us to where we are today. We are the fastest growing tourist destination region in the world.

It also works with other things. The tirany of distance provides a space which sometimes seems so grand. I dont know whats going on but i remain rooted where i am, constantly in front of the computer. :P
